Thamesbridge School – GCSE (Ages 13–16)

At Thamesbridge School, pupils in Years 9–11 follow a structured Key Stage 4 programme designed to provide a strong academic foundation and prepare students for successful progression to sixth form, college, further study or vocational pathways.

Students can choose from the following Key Stage 4 subjects:

• Mathematics – iGCSE
• English Language – iGCSE
• Triple Science – iGCSEs: Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Double Science – iGCSE: Combined Science
• Business – GCSE
• History – iGCSE

All subjects follow the Pearson Edexcel specification and are delivered through live, interactive online lessons, supported by independent study, homework, assessments and regular teacher feedback.  Students joining Thamesbridge School at the beginning of Year 10 will normally complete their GCSE and iGCSE course content by February–March of Year 11. 

Students can choose between Triple Science and Double Science, depending on their interests, academic goals and future plans.

Triple Science allows students to study Biology, Chemistry and Physics as separate iGCSE qualifications, providing greater depth and breadth of scientific knowledge and an excellent foundation for students considering science-related A Levels or future careers.

Double Science (Combined Science) provides a broad and balanced study of Biology, Chemistry and Physics within a combined qualification, while allowing students to maintain a balanced Key Stage 4 programme alongside their other subjects.

Our Key Stage 4 programme is designed not only to prepare students for their examinations but also to develop independent learning, critical thinking, problem-solving and effective study skills. Through close teacher support and regular assessment, students are able to identify their strengths, address areas for development and build confidence as they progress towards their final examinations.
